F.A.Q
StampCrossing is a platform where you can exchange your duplicate stamps . In the classic stamp exchange sites, you have to find a collector who offers exactly what you need, and who is looking for exactly what you have to offer. On StampCrossing, you can get any stamp you want from any member of the platform, as long as other members can get the stamps you offer for an equivalent value.
The StampCrossing system was created by stamp collectors who want to share the joy of collecting stamps and who work every day to make this unique platform even more user-friendly and more usefull for collectors from all over the world.

1- How to create an offer
Use the button "Add an Offer" and fill the form.
You can create an offer with one or several stamps. All the stamps in a single offer need to be from one country, one year and are in the same conditions (Used or MNH). Create more offers if your stamps are not from the same country or the same year or are with different conditions.
You are encouraged to offer recent commemorative stamps rather than usual and common stamps. The quality of the proposed stamps is supposed to be perfect, otherwise you need to mention it in the description and make it clear to the members of the community.
When a member orders your stamp, you will receive a notification by e-mail. You need to log into your account and find out the address of the member to whom you need to send your stamps.
As soon as your stamps are marked as received by the destination member, the equivalent value of the swap will be added into your account.
2- How to determine the point value of an offer
We recommend the free catalog www.stampworld.com wish is very popular within the stamps collector community when it comes to exchanging "usual" stamps.
If you think that the value from this catalog is not fair enough, you can use any other recognized catalog. Juts make sure to mention it in the description of the offer.
After all, you are free to set the value to the level you want.
You can for example make it lower to encourage other members to order your stamps.
3- How to order stamps
The first step is to add you stamps you want to order into your cart, this can be done from the offer detail page with the button “add to cart”,
Once you're satisfied with the content of your cart from a particular member, the second step is to “validate the order” .
In this step the system checks :
- if you have sufficient points
- if the total value of the cart is meeting the minimum value required by the owner to be able to initiate the swap
- and finally, if you have a common spoken language with the member you are ordering from.
Note that this third control is not blocking, and that you can still initiate the swap, unlike the first two.
Once the swap is validated, it will appear on the "My order" section.
When you receive your order, please mark it as received as soon as possible and rate the quality of the swap.
4- Posting and receiving stamps
You are responsible for sending the stamps ordered from you by the other members. We encourage the use of registered letters as much as possible to avoid losses.
When you receive stamps you ordered, please mark them as received as soon as possible. It will allow the sender to get the points value of the swap.
If you have any concern about the stamps, please contact the sender and try to find a solution.
The StampCrossing team will be available if needed to solve any issue.
5- Order cancellation
Order cancellation is not yet available automatically from the user menu. If you want to cancel an order, please inform the owner of the stamps at the earliest (before he sends them).
Use the contact form to inform the admin team. The swap will be cancelled if it is not yet marked as sent.
The points spent for the cancelled swap will be returned back.
6- About StampCrossing points
Points are StampCrossing swapping currency. The value of the stamps that are offered is given in points, and the points received for the stamps that have been sent, can again in return be swapped for the desired stamps.
The points credit in StampCrossing is used solely to order stamps from other members. This credit can’t be negative. Points can not be changed by the Stamp Crossing to any real currency.
The only manner to earn points is to offer stamps that interest the StampCrossers community. You can not buy points for the time being.
7- Rating swaps and users
In the StampCrossing community, the trust members have in each other is especially important, so after completing a swap, we recommend that you rate it and leave feedback about the sender. You can do this in the “My orders” section of the user menu.
The user rating is calculated based on the average of all swap ratings sent by this user. The total number of ratings that have been submitted is displayed next to the rating.
Tips for choosing a rating:
- 1-2 stars – stamp(s) are in a significantly worse condition than what the description indicated.
- 3 stars – swap could have gone better, the stamp(s) did not match the description in some criteria.
- 4-5 stars – Good or very good experience, stamp(s) that I received met my expectations, communication with the sender was pleasant and friendly.
